How have you tried to please God? Have you gotten caught up in doing religious things? God made his desires clear in Micah 6:8 which says, “the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.”
God’s not looking for some long formula. He is a God of grace, not works. His list is clear as he wants his people “to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” He doesn’t want believers to guess what he desires, but he is straightforward in this passage.
God wants you to treat people in a fair way, by treating them the way they should be treated, which of course is always with love. He desires for you to show mercy, which is showing compassion to others, even when they don’t deserve it. Lastly, he wants you to walk humbly with him! Let God be God and in all things you do or say, seek humbleness.
Use Micah 6:8 as guidance throughout your day. Are you acting justly, loving mercy and walking humbly? Seek to love others and God, above yourself! And as the message translation says, “Don’t take yourself too seriously—take God seriously.”
